Denise “Dede” Ridgeway
Dede’s love of wildlife and the outdoors is her inspiration when creating paintings on Queen Palm fronds. She is a self taught artist who noticed how palm fronds could be an interesting art form. Each is one of a kind design. Since each is unique in shape, she prepares each frond individually and then uses compound paste and epoxy for sculpting the three dimensional aspects of her work. She paints in acrylics and then seals the entire frond with Varathane to protect them. They can be displayed indoors or outdoors. Originally from Pulaski NY, DeDe now resides in Homosassa with her husband Dann and her two cats. Her family includes their two sons and two grandchildren. She retired her career in nursing and presently volunteers at Homosassa Wildlife Nature State Park.
