What is a Materials Fee? Most classes will have all of the materials provided for students. This allows the student to try new forms of art without having to purchase expensive supplies themselves. The material fee is paid directly to the Instructor when the student arrives at the class. This fee also offsets the cost of supplies used and lets the Instructor the ability to offer quality materials for the best learning experience.
JANUARY CLASSES
Herons on the Rocks
In this class, we will paint at least four rocks depicting beautiful herons in a river using acrylic paints. Saturday, January 11th, 2-4pm Class fee: $20 Instructor: Peggy Hughes $10 supplies fee to instructor at time of class. |
NEW YEAR ALTERED ART JOURNAL
A New Year means it’s time to turn the page and begin our new goals, hopes, and activities and our art journal can help us. This class will make an altered art book journal from repurposed books and decorate it with paint, collage, and other mixed media. Bring images and photocopies that you'd like to put in your journal. OCEAN WAVE CHARCUTERIE BOARD
You will learn the basics of working with resin by creating a resin design of a charcuterie board. You will be working with Acacia wood approx 8x20” including handle. All materials will be provided but please wear old clothing and tie your hair back. This is very sticky material. We will provide masks gloves and aprons. You will need to leave your piece at the gallery until the next day until it’s hard enough to be moved safely. Introduction to Acrylics--Painting Trees in Landscape
Students will paint a 9 x 12 canvas landscape with a focus on how to paint trees. From a Florida palm to a live oak tree learn how different trees can make a subtle impactful element to the painting. Students will also learn about brush techniques, fun hacks, color, and composition. No experience needed, the class is for any level painter. All materials are included. Beginning Watercolor: Seascape
In this class, we will explore the wonderful fluidity and transparency of watercolor and create a seascape painting with billowing clouds on 9x12 watercolor paper with a border, ready for framing. Pour More Fun-- TWO Day Class
In this popular class learn about the art of acrylic pouring. Day One you will pour two small 8 x 10 canvases using two different techniques. Learn how to mix colors and get the amazing effects of pour art. On Day Two, the canvases have dried, and you will embellish your painting with animals, scenes, quotes, or anything from your imagination to create a unique fun work of art. No experience needed, you will receive step-by-step instructions. Let's create some fun! Snowflake Rock Mandalas
In this class, students will create mandala snowflakes on rocks. We will be using acrylic paint to create mesmerizing mandalas with repetitive dotting, and other tools. Mandalas have a long history of being meditative and snowflakes have a long history of being beautiful. Resin Ocean Art Wall Hanging
During this class you will learn how to mix, move and color your resin. Then you will move your resin with a heat gun to create some Ocean waves and a beach area. This will be on a round piece of wood approximately 14 inches . You will embellish the beach area with items I have provided or you can bring your own. Resin is very sticky and we will need to wear old clothes. Aprons, gloves and masks will be provided and please tie long hair back. You will need to leave your piece at the gallery until the next day when it will be hard enough to safely move. Pop-Up Valentines!
In this class we'll cut paper into hearts and clouds and other shapes and use collage and pop up techniques to create fun and impressive Valentine cards and treats. Flower Fun
Create bold and expressive flowers painted in acrylic and mixed media. Explore layering color and patterns to create vivid 8x10 canvas board paintings ready for framing. No experience necessary. Introduction to Gouache
What on earth is Gouache? If Watercolor Paint and Acrylic Paint were to have a baby it would be Gouache! If you struggle with watercolors and don't really like acrylics, you might love Gouache! This class will go through several exercises and examples of how to apply Gouache in many different ways. All materials are included. Bring a notebook to take notes from a slide presentation and get ready to paint! Coral Oasis (seahorse)
Great for beginners as well as experienced artists. Paint a seahorse and coral scene using acrylic on 9”x12” canvas, and experiment with a variety of techniques. Florida Sunset, Paint and Sip
You will paint this beautiful sunset and palm tree acrylic painting and have fun socializing while being creative. All supplies are included. All levels of experience are welcome! Come with a friend! Meet new people! BYOB! All refreshments are BYO and alcohol is acceptable- bring your favorite wine, beer or other libation! You must be at least 21 to consume alcohol in the studio. Let's Try Plein Air Painting
Plein Air is the art of painting outside, in nature, capturing light and subject in real-time. Students will learn how light plays on a subject and how to capture the scene of their choice. Students may bring their own supplies or request a kit for $10. Please email for a supply list to [email protected]. The first part of the class will be a lecture indoors. Students should be prepared to be outdoors, so a hat, sunscreen, and bug spray may be needed. Chairs are provided but students may bring a small tray table or support for canvas or paper.
