Literary historian and Chautauqua performer Betty Jean Steinshouer previews her Tampa Fringe show, “Gertrude Stein Has Arrived,” at 5 p.m. June 6 at Rainbow Springs
Art in Dunnellon gallery. You may remember Steinshouer from her years on the Florida Humanities Speakers Bureau, portraying such writers as Marjorie Kinnan Rawlings, Harriet Beecher Stowe and Willa Cather. In this preview of her upcoming Tampa Fringe
show, the historian, actress and writer will introduce us, instead, to the woman who is credited for coining, "A rose is a rose is a rose" and who was so famous in 1934 that Eleanor Roosevelt asked her advice on how to get publicity. And yes, we will talk about how she and Alice B. Toklas survived the Nazi occupation of France. Tickets are $10 and available at rainbowspringsart.com and at the gallery, 20826 Walnut St. Call 352-763-4048.
