Pressed Flower Art

I experience creating art as a healing modality that affects the viewer and the artist.

Since the beginning of time, art has beeen a way of communicating, expressing thoughts and emotion, documenting history and simply an invention to create beauty for others to enjoy.

My artist journey began in a time in my life that I needed healing. I returned to my childhood love of drawing and painting to complete a part of myself that I had lost in taking care of others in my Nursing career and mothering my children. It was time to take care of me.

With an Artist Heart, I began taking art classes. I found drawing and painting to be a comfortable meditation and self exploration that is meaninful and validating. It was my return to joy!

This experience inspired my to bring this experience to the patients bedside. It was a way to incorporate the opportunity to create/meditate to my patients and fellow nurses as a form of stress management, communication, and expressive fun together.

Art was especially effective with adolescents and dementia patients.

The body of work you'll find at Rainbow Springs Art Gallery is  connected to my love for flowers that I've personally planted and nurtured. I then pressed them to be enjoyed forever... Hence, how the Forever Garden series emerged.

In some pieces, I incorporate them into my watercolor art. I am entranced with the natural organic form and colors apparent in the works. I hope you enjoy them too!
