Fine Art Artist - Mixed Media

I have been drawing since I was a kid, probably around age twelve. When I turned eighteen, I joined an art class in Whitehall, NY - my hometown - where I started in oil paintings.
Copying the work of masters was a valuable exercise for learning and developing my own artistic skills.
Salvador Dali became my favorite artist.
I developed some of his pieces in that class, but I also came up with some of my own style at that time.
My inspiration comes from Dali and Miró, and the rest of the surrealism movement.
"Surreal" is usually described as something that belongs to dream worlds... like, unreal and strange... sort of outside the realm of reality as we perceive it.
Some feel it is disorienting.
Some look at this form of artistic expression as profoundly strange. But nobody denies it is a complex expression of art, full of depth and fascinating!

In my artistic convictions I have discerned their
(surrealism artists) techniques and color theory, so I am able to internalize their visual language, and externalize their influence in my own artistic expression.

I started producing acrylic abstracts in 2019.
- All my abstracts have a name!
Most of them are done on paper, with a few on canvas or wood.

Back in 2008 I made hundreds of drawings while sitting in my LOCOMOTIVE on a siding.
I miss those days when, sometimes, I would be waiting for an hour while other trains would pass by... they were peaceful and full of drawings!

Thomas Lampkins has an impressive body of work.
He loves nature, and he has a special connection with birds.
When relaxing, Thomas makes music with his guitar and the piano.
