Fine Art Painter - Watercolor

ART

Has been my career during my 22-year as a public-school music teacher.
However, I have always liked to draw.
When my children were babies, I took the "Famous Artists' School correspondence course, to learn the fundamentals of drawings.

MY FIRST DRAWINGS produced commissioned work to paint charcoal portraits, scratchboard pictures, acrylic paintings, even sweatshirts for my fellow teachers!

Artwork 2

My commissioned charcoal of the Local Librarian Portrait checking out books for children hangs in the public library of my hometown of Columbiana, OH.
My work was selected to hang in the Butler Museum of Art, in Youngstow, OH.

WATERCOLOR
Became my passion when I retired to Florida. I then studied with several excellent teachers, especially Anne Abgott, at ArtCenter Manatee, in Bradenton.

COMPETING
Now it was time to enter into juried watercolor competitions.
- I won membership in the statewide Florida Watercolor Society for three consecutive years.
I received several awards in their yearly competitions.
- I joined the Citrus Watercolor Society in 2017. Recently, I won the first place in their competition.

MY PAINTING STYLE
Is colorful and realistic, encompassing a variety of subjects.
In 2016 I travelled to France for a watercolor class with Judy Morris.

Artwork 6

I love to do commissioned paintings because it involves studying subjects I would not ordinarily think of painting: from grandbabies to grizzly bears!
