I've been drawings since I was a kid, probably around age twelve. When I turned eighteen, I joined an art class in Whitehall, NY my hometown, where I started in oil paintings.
Copying the work of masters was a valuable exercise for learning and developing my own skills. Salvador Dali is my favorite artist. I developed some of his pieces in that class, plus I came up with some of my own style. My inspirations come from Dali, Miró, and the rest of that surrealism movement from the 1930's. In my artistic convictions I have discerned their techniques and color theory, so I am able to internalize their visual language and externalize their influence in my own artistic expression. I started producing acrylic abstracts in 2019. All my abstracts have a named. Most of them are done on paper, with a few on canvas and wood. Back in 2008 I made hundreds of drawings while sitting on my locomotive in a siding. I miss those days when sometimes I would be waiting for an hour while other trains would pass by. |
