Susan Davis Jones

Take a bag of mud -- roll it, squeeze it, carve it, fire it, and maybe, just maybe, make something special! That is the potter's challenge.
The process is fun, creative, unpredictable, challenging, rewarding, and therapeutic. I believe all art (music, theater, visual arts) can be enlightening and empowering.
It is texture, color, fire, and water. It is clay. Raku is exciting but risky; porcelain is silky but temperamental; stoneware is earthy and has deep cultural roots. For me, it releases lots of positive energy.
Art can express emotions not possible with words. Inspiration is everywhere if our eyes are open. Giving yourself or someone else an original piece of art enriches our fragile world. What more can we ask?
Susan has trained with Gary Lee, Lee Partin, and Kyu Yamamoto and is a frequent participant in Wildacres Artists Gatherings. She is a founding member of Rainbow Springs Art in Dunnellon. She has earned a B.A., M.S., and Ph.D.
