Some people are born artists; some people wish they were born artists. Just like athletes, artists have the desire to create but must practice and practice to hone their skills. As a teen, the desire to paint etched its way into the heart of this artist. As many people discover, life sometimes gets in the way, but a window opens and you find an avenue to pursue that long-awaited adventure. Lois began exploring the art world by taking classes in different venues: ceramics, tole painting, oil painting, pastels, and more. She discovered her strongest desire was in painting, expanding her mediums and subjects. After retirement, eager to polish her style, Lois engaged in several workshops by renowned artists, such as Karlyn Holman, Tom Jones, Susan Primeau, and Lynn Ferris, to name a few. It was her neighbor's seed pod from his palm tree that inspired her to think, "What a great shape to paint on!" That delivered a whole new realm of opportunity. Lois works in her home and happily fashions each piece with her "inspiration of the day." Her pods and fronds deliver a smile to those who observe them. Lois has been in several shows and has won awards, both in Florida and in her home state of Michigan. Currently, her art is exhibited at Rainbow Springs Art in Dunnellon, Island Arts in Cedar Key, and Crystal River Watersports.
