Pencil-Drawing Class, January 2021
Thursdays, Jan. 7, 14, 21, 28 from 1-3 p.m. Instructor: Jan Obrebski; Cost: $30 per session. Learn line building, basic strokes, value, composition, perspective, and more. Students will be able to draw from their own references, and they are asked to bring: sketchbook, soft pencil, and eraser. Classes are available for any age and any level of skill.
Promoting Your Art for 2021
Tuesday, Jan. 19, from 4-6:30 p.m. Instructor: Bridget Hanley; Cost: $15. 2020 forced every business to change its ways. Artists are no different! Learn some simple techniques to get the word out about your art. Learn how to use your Facebook page to get more interest and how to set up Facebook if you don't have it. There will be tips for improving your website and on how verifying your business through Google might be a good thing. We also will talk about why you should send out a newsletter. This class is geared to those who have limited experience with the Internet  and want to learn. Reach out to more people to get more recognition (not necessarily just artists). Students should bring laptops and lots of questions. The class is open to 10 students.
Basket Weaving -- Market Basket Rerun
Wednesday, Jan. 20, from 11:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Instructor: Meredith McCartan; Cost: $30, plus $10 to instructor for materials. Class size: Six students maximum; two students minimum. Back by popular demand! We will start off the year with another class for weaving the basket with the turquoise and braided seagrass trim. Several people who were unable to attend the previous class have requested an opportunity to make this basket. So, here we go! If you already made the market basket but wish to make one in another color -- navy, wine, or smoked -- email the instructor with your color choice at: mcmerr11@gmail.com. Remember to wear your play clothes because we use water for soaking the reed. You may bring drinks and snacks if you wish, and don't forget to wear a mask!
Wire-Wrapped/Sculpture Bracelet Class
Tuesday, Jan. 26, from 1 pm. to 4 p.m. (or until finished). Instructor: Lynda Ryan. Cost: $35, plus $25 to instructor for materials. Supplies will be provided by instructor, but if you have your own tools, please bring them. (Instructor has some extra tools but sharing them may extend the class length.) Tools needed: Flat-nosed and round-nosed pliers, Flush or close cutters. Each student will make a bracelet -- cross-over style or plain from square silver-filled wire with half-round wire bindings and beads of your choice. Written instructions are in the kits to take home. There will be a selection of beads to choose from. Samples of the bracelet styles are in the gallery.
