Arthur Tate is a 26-year veteran of the U.S. Army, having served three combat tours in Vietnam. His second career (32 years) was in education as a teacher and superintendent of schools.
As a young man, he participated in Native American powwows and developed a keen interest in metal work and Southwest jewelry. The work in the Rainbow Springs Art in Dunnellon gallery includes bracelets, rings, earrings, and broaches with a Southwest influence. The joining of sterling silver and turquoise in a piece of jewelry reminds us of the natural beauty of the Southwest.
Mr. Tate is a non-Native American who uses traditional techniques, methods, and tools to fashion his jewelry.
Sterling silver and turquoise should be worn often and proudly.
